As a freshman in college I was encouraged to consider what things in life stirred passion in my heart. This began a pursuit to understand who the Lord had created me to be. As I identified the gifts and talents that He had equipped me with, my desire to serve the Lord in these specific ways grew. Having been raised in a home where family was valued and the love of Jesus Christ was shared, I realized that I longed to bless others as I had been blessed.

In 2007, the Lord saw fit to lead this small-town Pennsylvania girl across the country to embark on a new life adventure.  I volunteered at Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch that summer, and then served on staff from 2008 through the end of 2010. At that point, I went back to college to complete my undergraduate degree.  Then in 2014, the Lord graciously re-opened the door for me to join the staff at the Ranch.

My job provides an opportunity to journey with children and families who are walking through seasons of difficulty. It is such a privilege to build a relationship with each child who comes to the ranch. This can, and often does, take many unique forms. From time spent with a horse to pulling weeds in the garden, it is a blessing to extend to each child the peace that is found in God’s unfailing love.

What is something that you are passionate about doing outside of Crystal Peaks?

I’m passionate about gardening, cooking and sharing meals together. I think that there’s something special that happens around a table that cultivates relationships and builds community.

Have you ever had a favorite or unique pet?

I wouldn’t say that I have a favorite pet but when I was 6 years old my parents gave me a 32-year-old pony named Pepper for Christmas.  I was pretty fond of her!

What is your favorite coffee drink?

Simply stated, I really love coffee.  I’ve come realized that it’s not just coffee, but it’s the whole experience of daily waking up to a warm mug full of goodness.  I generally drink home brewed with a splash of half and half, but I also enjoy a good vanilla latte every now and again.
