As a freshman in college, I was encouraged to consider what things in life stirred passion in my heart. This began a pursuit to understand who the Lord had created me to be. My desire to serve the Lord in these specific ways grew as I identified the gifts and talents that He had equipped me with. Also, having been raised in a home where family was valued and the love of Jesus Christ was shared, I realized that I longed to bless others as I had been blessed.

In 2007, the Lord saw fit to lead this small-town Pennsylvania girl across the country to embark on a new life adventure. I volunteered at Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch that summer, and then served on staff from 2008 through the end of 2010. At that point, I went back to college to complete my undergraduate degree. Then, in 2014, the Lord graciously re-opened the door for me to join the staff at the Ranch.

My job provides the opportunity to advocate for, and journey with, children and families who are walking through seasons of difficulty. It is such a privilege to invest in each child through intentionally building a relationship of trust and creating an environment of safety where they can experience the unfailing love of Christ Jesus. I appreciate that how this occurs often takes very unique forms to meet the needs of each individual child. From time spent with a horse to pulling weeds in the garden, the goal is always that the child feels seen and loved.

What is something that you are passionate about doing outside of Crystal Peaks?

Things I enjoy doing outside of the Ranch include hiking, reading, road-tripping, and cooking. However, I would say that my deeper passion lies in cultivating the relationships that the Lord brings in my life, journeying with others through process, and fostering an environment of “family.”

Have you ever had a favorite or unique pet?

I wouldn’t say that I have a favorite pet, but when I was 6 years old, my parents gave me a 32-year-old pony named Pepper for Christmas. I was pretty fond of her!

What is your favorite coffee drink?

Simply stated, I really love coffee. I’ve come realized that it’s not just coffee, but it’s the whole experience of daily waking up to a warm mug full of goodness. I generally drink home-brewed with a splash of half and half, but I also enjoy a good vanilla latte every now and again.
