We chose J.A.M. as a fun acronym (Jesus and Me) for our 5-7 year olds kids group. Our JAMMERS meet every Monday afternoon for a wide variety of activities. Some of which include making new friends, playing games, creating crafts, eating snacks, riding horses and certainly best of all, learning more about
our Lord.
A typical JAM class starts off with a welcome hug and the outfitting of each of our participants with a red bandanna. The bandannas are worn to let everyone on the ranch know that the JAM kids have arrived! After everyone has gathered together, all sit down in a horse-shoe shape on the grassy hillside and hear a simple story about Jesus. A fun game and craft follows, intending to support and fill little hearts with much amusement and encouragement.
Following our time on the grass, everyone pairs into small teams and together grooms, tacks and rides (with assistance) a horse. Throughout this time, I am so deeply blessed by their sunny smiles, hugs and laughter. Knowing that within this short time each child has been shored up with truth, filled with love and heartened with fellowship . . . moves me to be the most blessed of all.
Proverbs 25:11 says simply this, "He who waters will also be watered." For me, this verse takes on new meaning after spending time with the JAM kids . . . I am the one who is soaking.
