As summer activity is at a height here on the ranch, there are a couple new pairs of eyes taking it all in. All those who walk up our driveway are able to delight in the two new foals that were born here at Crystal Peaks this spring.
Hannah, the Mustang mare who came to our ranch in April, has had her much anticipated baby – a beautiful and spunky little chocolate
brown filly who has been christened with the name of Hanalei. Her name is Hawaiian for ‘wreath of flowers,’ which is so fitting, as donations from young Hannah Dunn’s funeral were sent to the ranch in the place of flowers. We believe this independent girl will live up to Ms. Dunn’s memory as a little spitfire.
Ele, Kim’s personal horse and priceless friend, gave birth to a kindhearted bay colt two weeks after Hanalei arrived on the ranch. His baby-soft coat and quiet mannerisms make him perfect for children to come and love. After much private contemplation, Kim chose to name him Covey. When asked about the significance of this unusual name, she quietly explained, “I have not yet been able to look at him without knowing that he is my four legged reminder of how very MUCH the Lord loves me . . . truly . . . he is my special Covenant.”
