In 1995, I witnessed a four year old mare being beaten so badly that a vet was needed to sew up her face. After six months of vowing to make a difference for her, I was finally able to bring the battered mare home. She not only became the foundation horse of what Crystal Peaks is today . . . she also became one of my dearest and truest friends.
Eleven years later, under a brilliant full moon, my sweet Ele gave birth to a spectacular bay colt. After much private contemplation, I chose to name him ‘Covey’. When asked about the significance of this unusual name, I finally had to share what was silently growing inside my heart . . . “I have not yet been able to look at him without knowing that he is my four legged reminder of how very MUCH the Lord loves me . . . truly . . . he is my special Covenant.”
As Covey continues to grow before my eyes, his name means more to me now than the days following his birth. He is remarkable. He makes me laugh, he makes me think and most of all . . . he reminds me of how remarkably blessed I am. Simply to have this inquisitive youngster in my life is so much more than I dared to dream of. On top of everything else, he mirrors to my heart every day that I am one of the most blessed women on earth. Truly, he is my gift . . . he is my Covenant.
