Why you felt or feel called to Crystal Peaks: The short story is that my husband and I were considering moving to Central Oregon. Through God's gracious work Kim's first book, Hoping Rising, was placed in my hands. While I was reading it I knew I was being called to be a part of this ministry. I have loved horses since I was a little girl, I have hurt like some of the children who visit us hurt, and I hope that God may use me and my experiences to help others.
Areas of Ministry on the Ranch (what you do on the ranch on a regular basis): As of now I am working in the ranch office, which includes scheduling sessions, answering phone calls and responding to emails. Prior to this I was a volunteer, so I'm used to doing whatever is needed. I'll weed the gardens, groom the horses and talk with the families while their child(ren) is in a session. Some days there is nothing better than sitting on the lawn listening to the horses munch on grass!
Favorite thing about CPYR or about being here: The group of people I have an opportunity to work with is the biggest blessing to me - employees and volunteers alike. God has placed me here at Crystal Peaks where I can witness His mighty work each day and I am so thankful for that. I am here to help the children and their families - to encourage them, seek understanding with them, laugh with them, pray with them, and little do they know how much they bless me.
What do you do in your free time: Free time, let's see...what is that?? I'm a parent, so free time if often limited! :) If I had a day to myself, I'd probably spend most of it outside. I'd go for a long walk and then find a beautiful location to sit and relax (not hard to do in Central Oregon). I'd then enjoy reading through my unending stack of books that I can never seem to catch up on.
Favorite Ice Cream: I know, this is boring, but I love vanilla!
Likes (what do you like in life, food, movies, etc.): I enjoy spending my days with my husband, Andy, watching our son grow and hearing his laughter. I also like skiing, scuba diving, horseback riding, having family and friends over for a barbeque, and watching college football.
One unique/funny fact about yourself: A few years ago my husband and I were scuba diving in the Bahamas and we saw a Hammerhead shark...it was so amazing!
